Suspension of new DMSP space weather data to users
Description of change:
NOAA-hosted Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) data and products are being suspended no later than June 30, 2025. The Space Weather products include data from the following sensors:
SSJ: Auroral plasma electron and ion fluxes
SSM: 3D geomagnetic field vector
SSIES: Ionospheric electron and ion density, temperature and ion drift speed
OLS (VNIR/TIR): Visible near-infrared and longwave thermal imagery, including images of auroras near the poles
Data access to previously collected DMSP space weather data will continue to be available via: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/satellite/defense-meteorological-satellite-program.

NOAA will stop distributing new DMSP data on or before 31 July 2025. Previously gathered data will continue to be available.
The initial communicated date of 30 June has been postponed for one month. The dates in this notice are updated.
