Title: Lead Geospatial Data Scientist
Location: California
Pathfinder Topic: Air Quality
Research Area: Wildfire, Smoke, PM2.5 and NO2, Emissions, and Air Quality

  • Through his work with Sonoma Technology, Nathan supports a variety of projects related to wildland fire modeling, air pollution exposure, and air quality data analysis. These projects help states forecast their air pollution and inform the public of their risk of exposure.
  • Nathan and his team work with the Health and Air Quality Applied Sciences Team, looking at Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites data for Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5) retrievals and also provide information for the AirNow program which provides air quality information at multiple geographic scales.
  • He is interested in using data from TEMPO to better understand how smoke chemistry varies over time as a plume disperses downwind from a fire.
