The strongest storm of 2004, Hurricane Ivan “The Terrible” also broke records for the most number of U.S. landfalls by any one storm. After making its initial impact along the Florida panhandle, the storm moved through the Mid-Atlantic U.S., turned around in the Atlantic, struck Southern Florida, crossed the peninsula, then struck the Texas-Louisiana border after crossing the Gulf of Mexico.
