Should the official Atlantic hurricane season be lengthened?

Know someone who goes by Wilfred or one of these other names? You may because there are 30 of them, correlating with the unprecedented 30 “named storms” during the 2020 Atlantic #hurricaneseason. One of our NESDIS scientists and contributors share in this paper about increasing trends in the length of the active hurricane season, with storms forming earlier and later in the season than normal.
