Suomi NPP Sees Latest Nor'easter to Bring Heavy Snow, High Winds to Rhode Island
In March 2018, the NOAA-NASA Suomi NPP satellite captured this true-color image of the Nor’easter that dumped heavy snow across the Northeast over several days. According to the National Weather Service, the storm produced snows of 20 inches in Connecticut, 22 inches in Rhode Island, 23 inches in Massachusetts, 24 inches in York County, Maine. JPSS instruments provide invaluable data for understanding storms and making forecasts up to five to seven days in advance of a severe weather event.
