JPSS Sees Severe Thunderstorms in Missouri
Images from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument show the development of supercell thunderstorms that produced tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds across parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri in May 2019. JPSS instruments provide invaluable data for understanding storms and making forecasts up to five to seven days in advance of a severe weather event.
