GOES-16 captured this image of Hurricane Gert in the Atlantic Ocean on August 15, 2017. According to the most recent information from NOAA’s National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Gert is around 365 nautical miles west of Bermuda moving north-northeast at 9 knots. The system's maximum sustained winds are 65 knots with gusts to 80 knots. Swells generated by Gert will spread northward along the east coast of the United States from North Carolina northward to Long Island during the next couple of days. Swells are also expected to affect Bermuda during the next couple of days.
