NOAA's Satellite and Information Service NESDIS - FY2007 Budget Request
NOAA's National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service,
also known as "NOAA Satellite and Information Service" (NESDIS) requests a total of $1,033.883 million (M) in the FY2007
President's Budget Request.
This is a $81.663M increase over the FY2006 enacted appropriation.
The FY2007 request will allow NESDIS
to continue providing operational products and services while developing
critical space- and ground-based observational systems that will
serve the Nation's needs now and in the decades to come.
Highlights include:
Operations, Research and Facilities (ORF):
- $97.670M for Environmental Satellite Observing Services.
- $51.909M for NOAA's Data Centers & Information Services.
Total ORF of $149.579M
Procurement, Acquisitions and Construction (PAC):
- $867.383M for Satellite Acquisitions.
- $14.693M for Data Archive System Enhancements & Information Systems Backup.
- $2.228M for Facilities and Critical Infrastructure Improvements.

Environmental Satellite Observing Services
- $43.789M for satellite command
and control of NOAA's GOES and POES, and operations and maintenance
of NOAA Satellite Operations
Facility (NSOF).
Satellite Command and Control One Pager
- $27.270M for processing and
distributing operational satellite data products and services that are critical for saving lives and property from severe weather
and natural disasters, navigation hazards due to sea ice, as well
as search and rescue of mariners and aviators in distress.
Product Processing and Distribution One Pager
- $24.771M for product development from current and future NOAA satellite systems, including satellite derived Coral Reef Monitoring.

- $337.870M for NOAA's portion of the NPOESS program for instruments, risk reduction activities and system development.

- $7.466M for CLASS and EOS Archive enhancements at NOAA National Data Centers.
